Hello everyone.
These past 2 spammers have made me realize the forum was still set to allow Guests.
The forum now has been set to require people to register an account before they post or make threads, and requires them to activate their account themselves. Also when registering people will need to copy down a Confirmation Code that can be found within an image. This will stop most bots from getting through unless they're especially tricky.
We shall wait and see!

Most spammers are just automated scripted bots that go through websites and post rubbish just to embed advertising links. So the image code verification should get rid of most of them unless they're especially advanced enough to decode images (but not that likely I think although I dont know much about it).

If one goes through the trouble of registering, verifying themselves through email and entering the image code then most likely that is a human time waster. Reporting them to me will result in their account being banned.

Just to clarify. Spam means random/irrelevant posts meant to harass or disprupt conversation and advertising links. Of course I don't mind if people advertise useful or personal websites in the Off Topic section. But what I don't condone is pure advertising (most of the time its gambling or dating websites)

thanks, sai, like i said eralier about the guest on the petition thread. if scammers register ,they'll still get deleted if they make it past the confirmation code. a lot of other sites do that, too.

It was annoying to have to register first before I could post, but if it keeps scammers and ads away, than I guess it is for the best.

I can't imagine a rank any higher than Master Catcher. And I'm finally a Borg Wearer now.

Hehe those spammers are trying to be clever now. Making me think twice about deleting a member.
Like they come and say "I'm so inexperienced, please teach me or tell me this. All I know is how to use [advertising link to ringones/drugs]. Thanks for any help." Thought twice about it... but too much of a coincidence with the other ringtone spammer.

Thankyou that was getting annoying. Whenever I got on here I'd see a new post and go "oh finally a post" then I saw that they were just spammers disguised as members. Sneaky.
