The forums have been updated to the latest software and a new anti-spam measure added to reduce spam. Previous antispam measures helped keep out spam robots but not human spammers paid to manually add links who easily get around antispam measures which had been in place on this forum for years including: Captcha images, human verifications and challenges etc. You can read about the new filter here:

Unfortunately updating the forum has its drawbacks. Customisations to the old script were lost. So the following are now missing and the scripts I used are no longer compatible with this version of the forum. If anyone knows of a modification script/addon for phpBB 3.0.9 which adds the following let me know:

- Smilies, BB Codes and other features for the Quick Reply instead of going to the full Post Reply page. I tried a few downloadable modifications but none worked.
- Posting threads from the News section of the forum to the homepage of the Alien 9 main website. For now the News section of the website homepage has been removed.
- Posting latest forum threads to the homepage of the website. For now the latest forum Member Activity section of the website homepage has been removed.
- Anything else I forgot and you notice is missing now.

So, I have a question, when will avatars be coming back?

Ah looks like for whatever reason the new version had avatars and avatar upload set to disabled, why would anyone want *that* to be the default!? Should be fixed now.
