| Post subject: | Why the term "Borg"? |
So, I've been wondering lately, why are the symbiotic aliens that the girls wear on their heads called "Borgs"? There's clearly nothing cybernetic about them (Except maybe the drills). My own theory is that it is because their eventual goal is to merge with their hosts (I.E. assimilate them). What's your theory? |

I've never really wondered. When I first watched the series the first thing that came to mind was Star Trek and Tomizawa is a fan of western science fiction, so maybe it's an homage? The Borg from Star Trek are symbiotic in a way. |
