"The Sims" is oddly addicting. I'd tire of it, but then I start playing it again and don't stop for days. The "Myst" series is the exact same way. I've played the first game through at least three times.

Yeah, it's interesting that way. I find Super Metroid the same way. I've completely beaten the game (100%) at least 15 times, and it's still fun and challenging. I never could figure out Myst though. I guess I'll have to get it again and try it out, seeing as it's been about five or six years since the last time I played it.

It's interesting and odd.

Games I Can't Leave Alone:
Sims
Pokemon series
Resident Evil Series (yay for dying a million times! xD;)
Gungrave
Mario Party 5
(One of the things that keeps me playing Mario party 5 is the Chain Chomp minigames. >_>; Call me psycho, but I just luv Chain Chomps.)

That's about all I can think of right now.

I tried Myst once but it felt pretty lonely (no other characters to interact with) and I'm not a big fan of puzzles @_@ (except for basic ones like Tetris) I heard they made Myst 5 but the company has gone bust or something -~-

I've never played Myst. It's a PC game right?

Really? There's no NPCs or anything like that?

Yes PC.

I don't think so, although someone that got into it more would be able to confirm. I didn't get very far at all and I'm mainly going off what I hear about it and my limited experience in the game itself.

I found a review which mentions characters in the game though. It says there are a handful of NPCs but for the majority of the game you don't actually see/talk to them, just read about them.
I also tried Lighthouse which is basically like Myst. It started off pretty interesting but again I got a little bored with little character interaction and complex puzzles aren't my cup of tea. ^^

It depends on which of the games you're playing.

Myst = Talk to Sirus and Achenar through books; you meet with Atrus at the end of the game.
Riven = You see NPCs, but they don't speak to you. You meet with Gehn, Atrus, Catherine and a few other folk whose names escape me as the game goes on.
Myst III: Exile = I forget his name, but you listen to a bunch of messages from the main villain, and you either have to help him or risk getting yourself killed later on.
Myst IV: Revelation = Haven't played it; apparent Sirus and Achenar closure.
Uru: Ages Beyond Myst = Haven't played it, but I hear you get a ton of interaction here.
Myst V: End of Ages = Not out yet.

There are a ton of rumors about this going around, but no one seems to know for sure. My neighbor works at the company, so I'll have to ask him about this when I can find the time (and the courage. ^_^;; )

I think whilst looking for NPC info on Myst 1 I did notice some references to more interaction in later games, thanks for clarifying. I appreciate the info. I might like the games with more interaction then. I think a fun aspect of RPGs is just wandering around towns listening to the loony people. I love the NPC in Grandia that just says "How come I don't get a picture of myself come up when I talk? Is that because I'm not a main character? That sucks..." XD

Cool, your neighbour works at a games company o_o; Must be a lot of fun.

Yup, he does! ^^ I'm not sure what he actually does, though. Being a huge fan of the Myst games and not seeing him often, however, I haven't exactly gotten the courage to talk with him about his work. (I don't want to make it seem like that's the only reason to be "neighborly" with him, you know?)

I recently got into Nethack, a Rogue-like game for the pc (and mac, pocketpc, and others. I love open source.). Basically, you pick your class, race, etc. and go dungeon diving looking for this amulet. It's very similar to DnD. The thing is, if you die, you're dead; you have to start all overe from the beginning. It's very challenging. It also looks something like this if you're not using the windows tiled version:

I have a very old game that looks a bit like that. You go to some building then go down underneath it. Underground it's dark so you can't see the paths from further than a few tiles around you unless you use a bonus to "Detect" a part of the map. It was very basic and involved that old "You hit Ugly Monster for 37. You missed Ugly Monster. Ugly Monster hit you for 45" Hehe not too exicting... And I think also that if you really did die you had to restart. Still I played it a fair few times ^^

I had a game on the Megadrive (or was it Master System) called Rolo or something which had MANY levels and no save fucntion!! AGH! I got SO far one day then poof... all gone. Crazy -_-
