Yeah, they still have their flaws though but they're the better of a bad lot  Yellow Knife are probably in second place when fused....

Yellow Knifes just seem to be..... misunderstood? Look at the one that swallowed Kasumi. While he was dying, didn't he say something like "I understand... no need to protect me now..." and allowed himself to die while Kasumi was trying to protect him.
Yellow Knife are probably in second place when fused.... |

Yeah it seemed the Yellow Knife was placed by someone else there, against its will (as the principle later implies that someone else was involved). So it wasn't its fault it was put there and had to act according to its instincts. Kasumi willingly let herself become one with it because it took advantage of her being the loneliest (apparently... considering she was the first who gave in to it). And it took her over in a rather passive way, giving her what she most desired and dreamed of. I guess it tried to do the same to the others by reminding Kumi of her loneliness except unlike Kasumi, the person she misses is dead... so it was more of a nightmare than a dream. And Yuri and the teacher weren't technically lonely, they missed noone in their life (although its funny you don't see much of Yuri's Dad so I don't know why the Yellow Knife didn't play up that fact instead of saying the rest of the team had left her on her own) so it didn't work on them. After they all resisted and started to attack the Yellow Knife, it acted defensively but actually showed compassion and sacrificed itself, although a part of it remained within Kasumi. The fact it showed compassion is a good sign. Although the way it changes Kasumi and her seemingly beating up her borg and so on later in the series shows it isn't without its manipulative ways just like the borg clan will be manipulative. But both the borg clan and Yellow Knife clan seemed better than the purely violent Sunflower Clan, definitely! A world ruled by the Sunflower Clan would probably be like a fascist environment where if you weren't of use to them, you'd be killed. |

A borg would be nice. It could protect you from danger and you could have someone to talk to during those lonely days. Dont know about that licking-your-back-and-fusing-with-you thing, though A bit off topic; did the series ever explained who put the Yellow Knife there? |

Nope, never actually. We don't know why the alien party was attacked Hitoshi Tomizawa should of explained that more. In some sort of way, they where attacked and resulted in fusion. Well, except for Yuri of course.

I got the impression that maybe it was another clan that put the Yellow Knife there to mess up the Borg Clans progress with the kids (afterall it did mean they lose their best kid for fusing with from that school in the form of Kasumi). But yeah it never really is explained directly who. I guess its possible to speculate that perhaps it was the Sunflower clan all along as they're the only clan we see directly challenging them... until Emulators and the whole borg generations thing.... |

i had to post something.  howabout a big dragon-borg with vampire wings that's black and red and you could ride it, and you could fuse with it to use red drills with your hair. i think that would be awesome for an alien. it would be cool to fight on the anime too.
